Simon has been crafting Thornbury wines since 2006 and is a pretty talented guy. Intrepid by nature, with a passion for wine, Simon’s career has taken him around the world. Having worked vintages in Central Otago, Oregon, Bordeaux and Western Australia, Simon returned to the North Island to add a Wine Science Diploma to his Bachelor of Science. From here Simon took up a position at Esk Valley Estate before heading off internationally, working in the Gers region of France and onto Chile and the Napa Valley, California, where he was the winemaker for boutique winery DiLoreto Cellars. Simon returned to New Zealand in 2003 to work for Vidal Wines before taking the helm at Thornbury. Simon’s innovation and enthusiasm to produce quality wines with expressive characteristics is what makes Thornbury wines so enjoyable.
“The opportunity to produce premium wines from each of New Zealand’s key wine growing regions is extremely exciting. It’s great to work closely with the viticulture teams in each region to ensure our wines express their unique sense of place.”
