Tasting Notes
Thornbury Marlborough Pinot Gris 2006
Tasting Notes

The concentrated flavoursome Pinot Gris is pale straw in colour with green flecks. The wine shows ripe pear and soft stonefruit features with hints of citrus and spiced apple adding complexity. This wine is both opulent and mouthfilling with an extended mineral finish giving a wine with finesse and balance. Best enjoyed while at its freshest and most vibrant, drink this wine over the short term.

Winemakers Notes

The Pinot Gris fruit is hand picked in individual bunches, only when the fruit is at optimal ripeness. The parcels are then whole bunch pressed to provide juice which is soft and concentrated. To preserve the wine’s flourishing natural aromatics it undergoes cool fermentation techniques. The wine is left on primary ferment lees for a period during which time it was treated with occasional battonage to build the desired texture and richness on the palate. The wine is then blended and lightly fined before finally being filtered to bottle.
